Online Classes For Personal Fulfillment

According to a recent survey, nearly a quarter of all people thinking seriously about taking online classes are doing it for personal fulfillment and not for better pay or a promotion. While 41 percent responded they were seeking career advancement, the 24 percent is still a pretty staggering number.

The survey was conducted by Distance.GradSchools.com, an Internet directory of online graduate programs. A press release for the survey can be found here:

The survey also found that 12 percent of all potential students are over the age of 50, and 29 percent are over 40-years-old. Impressive results for technology based education.

Other motivations for getting an online degree were as follows: Change of career and an increased chance of employment, both receiving 15 percent of the responses, finishing a previously started degree at 4 percent, and rejoining the workforce after not working at 2 percent.
